Our course consists of three integrated parts that work together to build a solid foundation in reading and writing.
In the Literature Analysis section, our experienced teachers will guide students through the analysis of fascinating classic literature. Through these studies, students will gain a deeper understanding of the literature background, ideological content, and artistic characteristics. This will help them develop their reading ability and master the golden key to their success in English reading comprehension.
The Writing Workshop is a step-by-step approach to writing effective multi-paragraph essays of different genres, including narrative, expository, opinion, biographical, and compare-and-contrast essays. Each two-week session focuses on one writing genre, allowing students to learn writing techniques that will help them excel in their school writing assignments and build a strong foundation for writing more advanced essays in various essay contests.
The Vocabulary Expansion section is a game-changer. They will learn the most practical roots and affixes in English words to quickly expand their vocabulary. Additionally, the class uses systematic vocabulary learning methods such as the study of situational word groups and synonym and antonym word groups to improve students' word choices among the subtle differences of similar words. The students will even learn “hot” vocabulary words used in the ISEE, SSAT, and SAT tests!
