Our flagship reading and writing summer camp course is fun and effective in improving students' reading and writing skills. This course has three integrated parts to help students build their solid reading and writing ability.
Literature Analysis: Teachers guide the students to read fascinating classic literature. The students learn to analyze these masterpieces and understand the literature background, its ideological content, and artistic characteristics. Through the studies, students deepen their reading ability and master the golden key to their success in English reading comprehension.
Writing Workshop: This class offers a step-by-step approach for writing effective multi-paragraph essays of different genres, including narrative, expository, opinion, biographical, and compare-and-contrast essays. Each two-week session will cover one writing genre. The students learn writing techniques to help their writing skills for their school writing work and build a solid foundation to write more advanced essays in various essay contests.
Vocabulary Expansion (only available in A505OS onsite course): Students learn the most practical root and affixes in English words to quickly expand their vocabulary; at the same time, the class uses systematic vocabulary learning methods such as the study on the situational word groups and the synonym and antonym word groups to improve students' words choices among the similar words of subtle differences. The students will learn “hot” vocabulary words used in the ISEE, SSAT, and SAT tests.
